MARKET LEADING ONLINE GAMES DEVELOPER MOUSEBREAKER PARTNERS UNIVERSAL MUSIC TO LAUNCH HARRY HILL’S COMEDY ALBUM ‘FUNNY TIMES’!
In a blow to the newly active Chairman and Chief Executive of ITV, the Competition
Commission have this morning definitively ruled that the CRR remedy, (which allows buyers
of advertising airtime to renew their existing contracts with ITV, with investment adjusted to
reflect the change in ITV1’s audience share), will be maintained for the foreseeable future.
The only concession that the Commission has made to ITV’s extensive lobbying is an
amendment to include viewers delivered by the ITV1+1 and ITV1HD channels.
Mousebreaker – the leading UK-based free-to-play games site – has partnered with Universal Music to produce a bespoke new game to promote Harry Hill’s new comedy album Funny Times.
The game – Harry Hill’s Subo Hunt – is a classic duck hunt style game, in reference to the track Subo from Harry Hill’s new album. The song plays as background music whilst users shoot all things Susan Boyle related – ranging from Simon Cowell to cats – with bonus points awarded for landing a pie on Subo herself. The game is available at: http://www.mousebreaker.com/games/harryhill/playgame.
In a deal brokered by MediaCom, Harry Hill’s Subo Hunt game will be featured on www.mousebreaker.com as well as traffic drivers from www.nme.com, www.nuts.co.uk, relevant blogs and Facebook, ensuring the album will be a massive hit this Christmas.
Chris Scott, senior product manager for Universal, adds: “With a record like Harry Hill’s Funny Times, it was important to give people a light-hearted and entertaining way to engage with music from an artist they were perhaps not used to expecting music from. We felt that creating a game that tied in to the lyrics of Harry’s album provided a great bridge from his TV work into his music, and IPC’s network of sites really helps to give the game an initial boost in users.”
Chris Dehaney, sponsorship & brand solutions manager for IPC Inspire Men & Music says: “IPC Inspire has always delivered cutting edge solutions for their clients. The way games are used in today's market goes beyond pure enjoyment and allows the user to engage with advertising in an authentic and responsive manner. The game has been developed to drive sales of Funny Times by ensuring users sample the Subo track during game play, giving them the opportunity to purchase the album via Amazon at the end.”
Sandy Mair, digital planner, ted@mediacom adds: "We wanted a platform that was fun, accessible and social in order to drive time spent sampling Harry Hill's work, this time-based construct is something we are increasingly planning against as opposed to purely reach or sentiment, as we see it as a key driver of sales."
Funny Times is released on November 29, priced £8.93.
